UCC draft Bill lists intestate succession | Ahmedabad News
Gandhinagar: The draft of the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, which the Gujarat govt has forwarded to the assembly secretariat and is expected to be tabled next week, says that there will be three classes for intestate inheritance (cases where there is no will) besides listing circumstances where a will won’t be considered valid.The Bill enlists 37 relationships each prohibited for male and female partners. In the inheritance section, heirs have been categorized in three classes in cases where a will is not made by a person – Class 1, Class 2 and other relatives. Class 1 include spouse, children and parents. Class 2 include step-parents, paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents. Other relatives include all others other than those in Classes 1 and 2.
