Tirunelveli Police Launch TDP News: Showcasing Officer Efforts & Public Awareness | Chennai News
Good morning and welcome to TDP News, Tirunelveli’s ‘voice for the police’. Brought to the residents of Tirunelveli by the police department, the channel highlights work done by officers, from the recovery of stolen goods to cybercrime-related arrests. “The work that police do never reaches the public. We do so much daily, and we want people to be aware of it,” says district superintendent of police V Prassanna Kumar.Until recently, the department ran a YouTube channel, ‘Tirunelveli District Police’, which served as a platform for law and order updates. “We rebranded it ‘TDP News’ on Feb 3,” says Venkatraman Murugan, who manages the initiative. A former media professional and author, Venkatraman serves as the district’s social media coordinator, aided by police personnel Vignesh and Sengam Perumal, who handle content creation and design. “I oversee scripting, voiceovers and on-screen presentation. We are trying to make it like a morning news show.”He adds that AI-generated visuals and audio are also being created. “We are planning to publish one short film in a week, two awareness songs a month, and AI-generated visuals and images of service done by police daily. We are also looking at creating memes,” he adds. “Four songs on cybercrime awareness were entirely composed using AI, with lyrics by me.”He adds that they are also planning a short film. “We have tied up with an NGO for it.”The initiatives follow the theme ‘ungal vilipunarve ungal paadhugaapu’ (Your awareness, your safety), adds Venkatraman.
