SI booked for taking bribe to vacate land | Kanpur News
Kanpur: A sub-inspector posted at Mohammadabad police station in Farrukhabad district allegedly took Rs 1.75 lakh, transferred the amount into his son’s bank account, and Rs 75,000 in cash from the gram pradhan of Nisai village in exchange for getting the gram sabha land vacated.Nisai village pradhan Geeta Devi met ADG Alok Kumar Singh in Kanpur on Monday and submitted a complaint along with screenshots showing Rs 1.75 lakh transferred online in 15 instalments to the account of Pankaj Chahar, son of Kotwali SI Suresh Chahar.Following encroachment on gram sabha land complaints were made to the DM, ADM and CO on Jan 12, 2025, and May 14, 2025, however, the land couldn’t be vacated, she stated. Later, the SI took the money and got the land vacated in collusion with the encroachers, she alleged. Additional superintendent of police Arun Kumar Singh stated a complaint was filed by gram pradhan Nisai alleging thatthe SI demanded money in a land-related case. Investigation s confirmed the allegations. A case has been registered against Suresh Chahar under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and investigative proceedings are underway. tnn
