Police rescue abducted car dealer: One held, four on the run | Chennai News

Chennai: A travel agency owner was arrested on Monday on charges of kidnapping a car dealer who had sold him a stolen vehicle. The dealer was rescued within hours.Police said Saravanan, 52, from Nolambur, sold Manikandan, a travels agency owner from Tiruvallur, an SUV for 9 lakh. Manikandan had paid an advance of 3 lakh. At the time of registration, officials found that there was another vehicle bearing the same number. An inquiry revealed that the car was stolen and that the engine and chassis numbers had been altered. After Manikandan lodged a complaint with Tiruvallur police, Saravanan went into hiding. Manikandan, however, tracked him down and abducted him. Saravanan’s wife Umadevi, who was with him at the time, filed a complaint at JJ Nagar police station.The JJ Nagar police arrested Manikandan. Search is on for his four associates.
