Nagpur: The Maharashtra State Minorities Commission has been assigned a full-time secretary for the first time in a move aimed at strengthening its administrative functioning and expediting decision-making.The minority development department of govt of Maharashtra has appointed Minaj Gani Mulla, currently serving as additional district collector in the revenue and forest department, as secretary of the commission on deputation for a period of three years. He has been directed to assume charge immediately.Officials said the appointment is expected to bring greater efficiency in handling schemes, complaints, and policy matters concerning minority communities. The presence of a dedicated full-time officer is also likely to improve coordination within departments and streamline the commission’s functioning.Reacting to the decision, commission chairman Pyare Khan said, “The appointment is a very positive decision. It will bring speed to the commission’s work, ensure effective resolution of complaints, and enable more sensitive handling of issues concerning minority communities.”.
