JU asks edu dept to sanction 21cr funds | Kolkata News

Kolkata: JU has written to the higher education department, urging it to sanction Rs 21 crore towards a maintenance grant to restore and sustain functioning of laboratories, hostel facilities, teaching-learning processes. A source said, “The university is facing a Rs 6 crore deficit under the maintenance grant as per approved budget estimates for the current financial year. At the EC meeting on Sunday, it was decided an additional requirement of about Rs 15 crore has become essential.” A professor said, “The resource gap is adversely affecting the overall student teaching-learning environment.”
