Nah. Sources told TOI that a new partner has been identified and the restaurants are likely to resume operations.Yet, memories started flooding in: It was at Hard Rock Cafe that thousands of Bengalureans had their several firsts: Proposal, underage drink, and introduction to rock music.A landmark near Anil Kumble Circle for two decades, the place was the favourite for rock music lovers. The 9,000sqft venue retained its colonial charm, while its interiors were adorned with music memorabilia. The space was divided into two main halls and an open courtyard that frequently hosted live performances.“This was the first truly ‘cool’ place I visited during my college days,” said Tejaswini Anjankumar, a fashion designer. “For our generation, it was a big part of our social life. I didn’t know much about rock music then; it was more about the aesthetic vibe and being at that one hot place everyone wanted to hang out.”The café offered handcrafted drinks and a menu that included classic American favourites, alongside local dishes. It also features an on-site Rock Shop where visitors could purchase branded merchandise and collectibles associated with the Hard Rock brand.Along with Hard Rock Café, other legends Purple Haze, Jimmy’s, Styx, Pecos and Downtown Pub helped shape Bengaluru’s reputation as India’s rock capital. When TOI reached out to JSM cofounder Sanjay Mahtani, he said, “You’ll hear from us soon.”
