Gujarat: Three arrested for firing, assault over property in Gandhinagar | Ahmedabad News
Ahmedabad: Three men who fired at a Gandhinagar resident and assaulted another over a property dispute on Monday were arrested by the police on Tuesday. The Gandhinagar Sector 7 police arrested Jitendra Rathod of Unava, as well as his accomplices Mahendrasinh Jadeja, and Mitesh Desai, both residents of Vavol, for firing on Pradipsinh Jadeja. According to a complaint filed by 60-year-old Atulkumar Darji, a resident of Sector 27, approximately two years ago, Rathod bought a house in Sector 3 and paid Rs 20 lakh to Pradipsinh and Darji.“Rathod learned that there was a claim on the house, and refused to continue with the deal. He demanded the money and I told him that I would return it once my financial condition improved,” Darji told police. According to the complaint, Darji was at his office when Rathod went to his house, demanding the money owed to him. “He then came over to my office with Mahendrasinh and Desai. Instead of Rs 20 lakh, he began asking for Rs 50 lakh,” the complaint stated.Darji called Pradipsinh, who arrived their with another friend. “Seeing them, Desai fired his pistol thrice, hitting Pradipsinh in the stomach. The men also threatened me with a knife and assaulted me,” the 60-year-old told police.The Gandhinagar Sector 7 Police lodged under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 140(2) (kidnapping with threat to cause death), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with the Arms Act.Inspector Bharat Goyal said two separate teams of the Local Crime Branch were formed and the Sector 7 police station surveillance team began an investigation using CCTV footage and local informants. During the probe, police received information that the three accused were driving down K-Road in the vehicles allegedly used during the crime. Based on the tip-off, police teams intercepted and arrested the suspects.
