Forum calls for statewide protest against internal quota roster on March 24

Belagavi: Karnataka Meesalati Samrakshana Vakkoot (KMSV) will hold a state-level protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Tuesday, opposing the internal reservation roster system and demanding recruitment under the old reservation framework.Addressing the media in Belagavi on Friday, KMSV district president Ravi Poojari said the protest was aimed at preventing injustice to the Koncha, Korama and Bhovi communities due to internal reservation.He welcomed the state govt’s announcement that recruitment and educational admissions would continue under the old 50% reservation rule and said the recruitment notification should be issued without delay.Poojari said the state govt should put pressure on the Centre to include the order increasing reservation for Scheduled Castes (174) and Scheduled Tribes (70) in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. He said a delegation should meet the Prime Minister to convince the govt and reiterated the need to press the Centre on the issue.He said no unilateral decision should be taken until the nationwide census data is received and that consultations must be held with community leaders before implementing internal reservation distribution in the state.He also demanded the cancellation of recruitment notifications already issued, the withdrawal of certificates issued as A, B, and C, and the aconsideration of old caste certificates. The law should be amended to prevent diversion of STP reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, he said, and comprehensive data and details of the Justice Nagamohan Das Commission review should be released taluk-wise.Rajesh Pawar, KS Mamadapure, Avinash Khanapure and Raju Vaddar were present.
