Fee structure of 522 institutions okayed in Gujarat | Ahmedabad News



Ahmedabad: The fee regulatory committee (technical) in Gujarat has announced the first phase of fee determination for self-financed technical and professional institutions for the 2026-27 to 2028-29 academic block. In the first phase of fee determination, FRC has finalized fees for 522 institutions that proposed increases within the 5% limit and submitted complete documentation. Based on data from the previous block period (2023-26), proposals were invited from 705 institutions. Among them, 103 institutions proposed a fee increase exceeding 5%, while 569 institutions suggested a hike within the 5% cap. Additionally, 12 institutions submitted documents indicating closure of courses, and 21 institutions have not submitted any proposals so far.These fees were officially declared on Tuesday. The 103 institutions proposing more than a 5% hike are currently under review, and their revised fee structures will be announced later. Institutions that have not submitted complete documents will have their fees determined only after full compliance.Data from a total of 705 institutions was collected for assessment. According to sources in FRC, of the 569 institutions that proposed a fee increase within the 5% limit, six failed to submit the necessary documents, while fees for 41 colleges are yet to be announced. Notably, 49 colleges have opted for no hike, meaning their current fee structure will remain unchanged for the next three years.The process began on Dec 5 and following representations from institutions, the committee released its standard operating procedure (SOP) on Dec 26 through its official website and email communication. Institutions were given an opportunity to revise and resubmit their proposals, with an extended deadline. They were instructed to update their applications on the portal, pay the processing fee, and submit hard copies to the committee office.
