Ahmedabad: A late-night clash between two groups in Sarkhej left one youth dead and three injured after assailants stormed a house and attacked residents with knives, police said on Wednesday.The incident occurred in the Thakorvas locality, where tensions over an old rivalry escalated into violence. According to police, a group of men arrived on two-wheelers and picked a quarrel before entering a house and attacking members of a family with sharp weapons.Four people suffered injuries in the attack. An individual named Ganesh Thakor suffered severe stab wounds to the abdomen and died on the spot, while three others were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Their condition is stable.Police said the clash was rooted in a dispute over personal relations between members of the two groups. The situation remained tense for weeks, with earlier arguments and assaults reported. On Tuesday, an allegedly objectionable social media status further angered the accused, leading to the brawl. Sarkhej police team rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.A case of murder and attempted murder has been registered. The city crime branch detained Bharat Thakor and Harshil Thakor within hours of the offence, while Sarkhej police arrested Mahesh Thakor. Officials said efforts are on to trace the remaining accused, including Pratap Thakor, Vishal Thakor and Sanjay Thakor.Investigators said the accused were armed with knives and had allegedly threatened the victims before launching the assault. One of the injured was attacked while trying to intervene and stop the attack.Police have formed multiple teams and are analysing CCTV footage and local intelligence inputs to track down the accused.
