Chennai: Tamil Nadu police force continued its streak of sporting excellence, securing nine medals at the 74th All India Police Athletics Team Championship held recently in Jalandhar, Punjab. The state’s contingent, comprising 46 dedicated officers and personnel, demonstrated exceptional prowess in both athletics and cycling events held at the PAP Headquarters from March 7 to 12.The Tamil Nadu team’s haul included an impressive three gold, three silver, and three bronze medals, marking a significant achievement on the national stage. To honour this success, the director general of police (DGP) K Venkataraman, hosted a felicitation ceremony on Monday at the DGP Headquarters in Chennai.During the event, DGP Venkataraman personally congratulated the medallists and participants, praising their discipline and the pride they brought to the department. He was joined by B Bala Naga Devi, director general of police (state intelligence), along with other senior police officials who gathered to celebrate the athletes’ dedication to balancing demanding security duties with high-level competitive sports.
