7-year-old girl dies after jackal attack | Kanpur News
Kanpur: A seven-year-old girl, who was critically injured in a jackal attack in Patti Mazra Lalpur village under Kotwali area, died on Wednesday after battling for 17 days.The incident took place on March 2, when she had gone to the fields with her father. While he was working, a jackal hiding in the field suddenly attacked the child, leaving her severely injured. Villagers rushed to the spot on hearing her screams, but the animal fled.The same jackal later reportedly entered the village and attacked a woman, who was sitting outside her house, injuring her as well. Both the victims were taken to Kaimganj community health centre, where they received initial treatment and anti-rabies vaccination.On Wednesday, the girl’s condition deteriorated, and she was referred to Lohia Hospital. She died on the way while being taken further to Saifai for advanced treatment. The superintendent of the health centre, Vipin Singh, said that the girl had been administered all necessary doses of anti-rabies vaccine.
