Ahmedabad: A 28-year-old resident of Shela lost possession of his high-end car after police allegedly found 60ml of liquor and two e-cigarettes during a late-night vehicle check near Gotila Garden on Sindhu Bhavan Road, officials said on Wednesday.The incident occurred on Tuesday night when a team from Bodakdev police station was conducting a checking drive near Gotila Garden, close to Sindhu Bhavan Road. Around 10pm, a black luxury car approaching from Pakwan crossroads was stopped for inspection.During the search, police said they found two e-cigarettes and an open 200ml liquor bottle, containing about 60ml of liquid. As the occupant failed to produce a valid permit for carrying liquor, the items were seized on the spot in the presence of witnesses.Officials said the e-cigarettes were also taken into custody as prohibited items. The driver told police that he had brought the e-cigarettes from his foreign trip earlier this year. A panchnama was carried out at the spot and the material was sealed for investigation.Police sources said the action was part of intensified enforcement drives in the area, which has seen frequent late-night movement of vehicles. The case has been registered with Bodakdev police, and further investigation is underway.The incident has drawn attention due to the seizure of a high-value vehicle over a small quantity of liquor, highlighting the strict enforcement of prohibition laws in Gujarat.
