Gujarat board exams end, over 15L students appear

Ahmedabad: The Class 10 and 12 board exams conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) concluded on Wednesday, bringing to a close a three-week-long academic exercise across the state. As many as 15.28 lakh students appeared for the examinations.The examinations began on Feb 26. The final day marked the conclusion for 9.07 lakh Class 10 students and 5.01 lakh Class 12 general stream students, while the Class 12 science stream exams had already ended on March 16. The examinations were conducted across 1,701 centres and 5,565 schools in the state.The board had implemented stringent measures to ensure the integrity of the examinations. All 53,764 classrooms were equipped with CCTV cameras, and a special application was introduced to track question papers, helping prevent incidents such as paper leaks. Officials said that, barring a few isolated cases of malpractice, the examinations were conducted peacefully.On the final day, Class 10 students appeared for the social science paper, which was described as easy and largely based on textbooks and previous years’ questions. Most students found the paper simple, with only one question posing minor difficulty. Similarly, the Class 12 general stream history paper was also reported to be manageable, providing further relief to students.
