Inquilab Mancha gives 15-day deadline to B’desh to extradite Hadi ‘killers’ | Kolkata News
Kolkata: A day after Bidhannagar court sent Faisal and Alamgir to judicial custody in connection with the murder of Bangladeshi youth activist Osman Hadi, Inquilab Mancha in Bangladesh has given the Bangladesh govt a 15-day deadline to initiate extradition proceedings and try the duo in a Bangladeshi court.Inquilab Mancha was co-founded by Hadi and played a leading role in the students’ movement that forced former PM Sheikh Hasina into exile. In a press statement, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inquilab Mancha, said the Bangladesh govt must begin the extradition process immediately.“This is not a request but an ultimatum,” the statement said, demanding that the accused face trial in Bangladesh. The Mancha also raised concerns about efforts to shield those behind the attack, demanding an investigation into how the duo crossed the border into India — and questioning whether a section of police officers and administrative officials may have facilitated their escape. It also demanded that the trial be conducted through an “open trial system” to ensure transparency. The Mancha warned it would return to the streets if the Bangladesh govt failed to act within 15 days.
