CHENNAI: A day after sealing the seat-sharing deal with key allies – BJP (27), PMK (18) and AMMK (11), AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami is likely to unveil the election manifesto later in the day or on Wednesday morning, aiming to build momentum for his campaign set to begin at the Mandavelli market area in the Mylapore constituency on Wednesday evening.It may be recalled that Palaniswami had already announced 15 poll promises, including enhancement of the monthly financial assistance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, a one-time Rs 10,000 compassionate assistance to every family to offset inflation, free bus travel for men, three free LPG cylinders per year for every ration cardholder, and waiver of education loans.
Members of the manifesto committee have been asked to rush to Chennai. “The manifesto will be released on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. We also expect the general secretary to announce the candidate list before he commences his campaign on Wednesday evening,” said a former minister who was part of the committee.Meanwhile, the AIADMK is expediting talks to seal a deal with G.K. Vasan’s TMC (M) and other minor partners before the end of Tuesday. Palaniswami will also meet district secretaries and senior functionaries at 4 pm at the party headquarters, MGR Maaligai, to issue detailed instructions for election work.
