Art, science and tech converge at IIT-Gn curiosity conference | Ahmedabad News
Ahmedabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) hosted the Curiosity Conference 2026 on March 21 and 22, bringing together art, science and technology to reimagine learning through the lens of curiosity.Centred on the theme “Intersection of art–sci–tech,” the conference encouraged participants to reflect on how curiosity fosters flexible thinking, creativity and problem-solving, organisers said.Conference coordinators Dr Jaison Manjaly and Argha Manna emphasised that curiosity forms the foundation of any knowledge system and is essential for meaningful learning.Speakers at the event highlighted that curiosity, while deeply personal, remains universally vital across disciplines. In the keynote session, physicist-turned-artist Sukant Saran explored the relationship between science and art as complementary representations of reality that expand human consciousness and perception.Currently associated with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, Saran demonstrated how complex scientific ideas — from atomic structures to space-time theories — can be expressed through artistic forms, sparking deeper engagement and curiosity.Another keynote speaker, artist Arvind Sundar, delved into the connections between mathematics and art. His presentation examined concepts such as geometry and infinity through artistic practice, showcasing how ideas like the golden ratio, fractals, impossible structures and origami can inspire compelling visual forms.
