Surat: Thieves targeted the bungalow of a doctor in a posh society on Ghod Dod Road, making off with silver ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.74 lakh.Umra police have booked three unidentified persons for burglary and launched an investigation. Ketan Shah (58), a paediatrician who runs Ketan Children’s Hospital in Surat, lives in Vesu and owns a bungalow in Subhashnagar Society on Ghod Dod Road. The bungalow is usually locked, as Shah visits it only occasionally for work. Shah last visited the bungalow on Saturday afternoon to store some belongings of a doctor friend before leaving for his hospital. On Sunday, while he was in Navsari for work, a neighbour told him the bungalow door was open. He rushed to the spot and found the lock broken. On checking the cupboards and bed storage, Shah discovered that silver ornaments, silver idols and cash worth Rs 1.74 lakh were missing. CCTV footage showed three persons breaking into the house on Saturday, after which he filed a complaint with Umra police.
