Kolkata: A youth from Odisha posing as an IPS officer, was arrested by Barasat District police on Sunday, for allegedly cheating a young woman of Rs 15 lakh. Police said the accused, G Kanha Patra, a resident of Mayurbhanj, befriended the woman on social media and uploaded photographs of himself in police uniform bearing an IPS badge on his Facebook profile. “After gaining her trust, he collected the money on the pretext of arranging her appointment in the police force,” said an officer. tnn
