Duo kills man, 27, in early-morning row in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 27-year-old man was brutally killed in the early hours of Sunday near Bhovi Colony in Kalkere, allegedly by two persons following an altercation over money. The deceased has been identified as Kiran V, a resident of Bhovi Colony. Acting swiftly, Ramamurthynagar police tracked down and arrested the accused — Yuvaraj S, 28, an auto driver, and his friend Gangaraj S, 26, a store executive at an online grocery firm — within six hours of the crime. A senior police officer said the duo had gone on the run after the murder but was nabbed near Kolar based on a tip-off. According to preliminary investigation, Kiran, who was unemployed, had allegedly been harassing Yuvaraj and others for money to fund his drinking habits and personal needs. Despite repeated warnings from Yuvaraj to stop, Kiran allegedly continued to pressure him. The incident unfolded between 4am and 4.30am when Kiran intercepted the auto in which Yuvaraj and Gangaraj were travelling near Bhovi Colony. He allegedly demanded money, and when Yuvaraj refused, Kiran is said to have threatened him, triggering an argument. In a fit of rage, Yuvaraj allegedly picked up a jack rod from the auto and struck Kiran multiple times on the head. The victim collapsed on the road with severe injuries, while the accused fled the scene in panic. Locals later found Kiran lying dead and alerted the cops. During interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed to the murder. Police said further questioning is on to verify the sequence of events and motive. Investigators also revealed that Kiran had been involved in three prior cases related to assault for money.
