Kanpur: A dispute over the renovation of a temple built on Gram Samaj land in Sen Paschim Para Pipargawan village in Kanpur turned violent on Saturday late evening, leaving several people, including a woman, seriously injured. Police registered a case under sections related to rioting and assault and arrested two accused.Pipargawan village resident Kinnar Basanti started renovation work on the temple situated on Gram Samaj land. Neighbours Veer Singh, Dheer Singh and Raghunath opposed it, leading to a dispute between the two sides that continued for several days. After receiving information about the dispute, police reached the spot and took both parties to Kuriya Chauki, where a settlement was reached. Kinnar Basanti alleged that while returning home from the chauki with family, Veer Singh, Dheer Singh, Raghunath and Lakhan Singh, along with their associates, attacked them with sticks and batons.In the attack, Radha, Monu, Lakshmi, Ramkishore, Kajal and Jashwant were seriously injured. All the injured were admitted to CHC Bidhnu. Seeing Radha’s condition as critical, the doctor referred her to the district hospital.The victim side alleged that the accused beat everyone with sticks and batons right in front of the police, yet the police could not do anything.Station in-charge Pradeep Kumar Singh said both sides belong to the same family. “Based on the written complaint of the victim side, a case was registered under several sections including rioting and assault, and two accused were arrested,” he added.
