City bids farewell to IIT-Bombay student killed in expressway crash

Nagpur: The body of 2nd-year IIT Bombay student Lay Deshbhratar reached Nagpur on Friday morning, a day after he was killed in a tragic crash on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway alongwith two other students.Family sources said the body was brought to the city around 10am in an ambulance via the Samruddhi Highway. The final rites were performed at Vaishali Nagar ghat later in the day. The family will immerse his ashes in the Wena river on Saturday.Lay was one of the three students who lost their lives in the accident during a drive to Lonavala. The group had reportedly set out early to catch the sunrise when the vehicle met with the fatal crash.The news of his death has left family members, friends, and the local community in deep shock. Relatives and well-wishers gathered at the residence and later at the cremation ground to pay their last respects.Lay is survived by mother Nisha, father Prashant, and grandmother.
