Bengaluru: A 43-year-old farmer was killed after a speeding car rammed his bike near Bettakote village in Devanahalli taluk early Friday.The accident occurred on Budigere–Devanahalli Main Road when a Maruti Swift Dzire (KA-03-NC-5384), driven by a medical student, hit Venkategowda BV’s motorcycle from behind at high speed. The impact of the collision was such that Venkategowda was flung into the air before falling on the road. The car also toppled before veering into a roadside ditch. Both vehicles were extensively damaged, police said.Venkategowda was on his way to his agricultural land when the accident occurred. He is survived by his mother, wife and two teenage children.The car driver has been identified as Anand S, a resident of Hennur and an MBBS student. Villagers found his ID card in the car. A senior police officer said Anand is yet to return home out of fear. “We have contacted his family and the institute, where he is studying, to convince him to surrender,” the officer added.
