Kanpur: Ananya Awasthi of Virendra Swarup Education Centre won the district under-15 chess championship at Vedic Dharm Sabha on Friday.Swastika Kumar of Mariyampur, Adya Mishra of BNSD Shiksha Niketan, and V Kanisha of Virendra Swarup, Jajmau, finished second, third, and fourth respectively. All four girls will represent Kanpur in the UP State Chess Championship. As many as 17 girls participated in the trial championship, with the youngest being five-year-old Akshita Tiwari.Trials: As many as 160 aspirants participated in the Kanpur Cricket Association’s under-16 trials at KDMA School, Barra, on Friday. The remaining players from Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, and Kannauj will be tested on Saturday. tnn
