Chennai: A seven-year-old boy riding pillion with his mother on a bicycle was killed after a speeding motorcycle struck them on the Kathipara flyover on Thursday evening.Devarasan was in Class II. He was returning home with his mother Gomathi, who works at a petrol bunk on Mount-Poonamallee Road in Parangimalai. She had take him to work as his school was closed. As they were descending the flyover towards Guindy, a motorcycle coming from behind hit the cycle at high speed. The impact threw both Gomathi and her son onto the road, leaving them severely injured.Passers-by sent them to Guindy GH. The boy was referred to the Institute of Child Health, Egmore, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The St Thomas Mount police have registered a case. The motorcyclist, Saravanan, 29, has been arrested. TNN
