Man alleges communal assault after road accident, cops probe CCTV footage | Kanpur News
Kanpur: Three men and a woman allegedly addressed a man with communal remarks and assaulted him after a collision between his scooter and their car in the city. Police registered a case and began an investigation using CCTV footage.Rahul Kumar Sharma, a resident of Juhi Lal Colony, stated that on Wednesday night he was going towards Kidwai Nagar on a scooter with his friend Akash for some work. He said that while turning the scooter in front of Vishwas Garden, they collided with a car.The car occupants, Shamshad, Naushad, Sartaj and a woman, got out and started abusing them. When they protested, the group began to assault them, alleged Sharma. They also assaulted his friend Akash Sachan when he came to his rescue, Sharma said.The attackers used bricks and stones, and later beat him with sticks, causing blood to flow from his eyes and nose. People from both sides soon gathered at the scene, and before the situation could escalate further, the police force arrived and managed to calm the situation, he said.Police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar Ram said that a report was filed based on the complaint, and the investigation was underway by reviewing footage from CCTV cameras installed near the scene.
