PMC fast tracks construction of river bridge & road widening in Koregaon Park-Kalyaninagar area | Pune News
Pune: The civic administration has pushed two crucial infra works – widening of the Koregaon Park chowk to Tadigutta chowk stretch and the construction of a river bridge parallel – on a fast track to provide relief from traffic snarls in Koregaon Park and Kalyaninagar areas. The bridge is set to come up on the Mula-Mutha river adjacent to the existing Aga Khan bridge, which connects the two areas. An official said the bridge was expected to be ready by the end of May, while a significant part of the ongoing road widening was set to be finished ahead of monsoon.A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) official said they were reviewing the progress of both works on a weekly basis to avoid unnecessary delays. “We are in talks with establishments located along the Tadigutta chowk road to cooperate with us in road widening work. About 400m of the road has been widened so far. Vehicles will get at least one additional lane after this road widening. The administration is also in talks with defence officials to get hold of more land to add one more lane to existing road, which is proving insufficient to handle the traffic,” an official said.PMC is also working on a plan to widen four to five road links towards Hadapsar railway station, which is located ahead of Tadigutta chowk. Officials said the administration has deployed teams to hold talks with landowners to get possession of the required land for road works.
