Centre, state govt sign MoU under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

Gandhinagar: The Union govt signed a memorandum of understanding with the state govt on Friday to make drinking water and sanitation facilities more accessible in rural areas under the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. While CM Bhupendra Patel and other officials joined the event from Gandhinagar, Union Jal Shakti minister C R Paatil remained present via video conferencing.Quoting the CM, an official statement said that the state govt is committed to providing sufficient clean drinking water to all parts of the state, including the remote areas. Patel said the state govt has been successfully implementing every scheme of the Central govt on a priority basis, adding that the MoU under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 will prove to be a milestone in the state’s rural development. According to this MoU, continuous and quality water supply will be ensured in all rural areas of the state, and efforts will be accelerated to obtain the “Har Ghar Jal” certificate.The MoU includes completing water supply schemes on time and with quality, handing them over to village panchayats, ensuring operation and maintenance, and managing water systems at the village level by the village water and sanitation committee. The central govt will provide guidance, funding, and monitoring, while the state govt will be responsible for implementation, policy reforms, and technical support, the statement added.
