Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday flayed the DMK govt for alleged deterioration of law and order in the state and appealed the public to participate in large numbers in the state-wide protest called by AIADMK-led NDA on Tuesday.In a statement, EPS alleged that the state turned into a haven for anti-social elements and drug peddlers under the DMK regime. He claimed that school and college students fell prey to ganja and liquor consumption, which was a fallout of govt’s failure to curb drug peddling.EPS also alleged that 30 custodial deaths have been reported during the DMK govt’s tenure. He further charged that the present dispensation discontinued several welfare schemes introduced by the previous AIADMK govt.EPS said the AIADMK and BJP have organised the protest to expose the `DMK govt’s anti-people policies and poor governance.’ Leaders and cadre from alliance partners will take part in demonstrations in their respective districts, he said, urging the public vote out the DMK govt in the April 23 election.
