History-sheeter with 44 past cases arrested for attempted murder days after release from prison in Maharashtra | Mumbai News
Thane: The anti-extortion cell of Thane Crime Branch has arrested a history-sheeter with 44 criminal cases against him, who allegedly carried out a brutal chopper attack just four days after being released from jail. The accused, Omkar Bhosale (28), along with his associate Nilesh Yadav (31), was nabbed by the anti-extortion cell in connection with an attempted murder case registered at Kapurbawdi police station. According to police, the incident occurred on March 17 around 10 pm near Azad Nagar, Kolshet Road. Bhosale, known to police for multiple serious offences, allegedly confronted the victim over past enmity. The confrontation quickly escalated, with Bhosale reportedly wielding a chopper and launching a violent assault. He, along with his accomplice, also punched and beat the victim, causing serious injuries, said a senior police officer. The brazenness of the attack has raised concerns within law enforcement circles, particularly as Bhosale was released from jail merely days earlier and is suspected to have resumed criminal activities almost immediately. Sources informed that no stringent action has been taken against him yet. A team led by assistant police inspector Bhushan Kapadnis tracked down the accused to both their residences on March 19. They were later handed over to Kapurbawdi police station. Officials said further investigation is underway to probe their wider criminal network and examine links to past offences.
