Baduria man ends life over ‘SIR anxiety’ | Kolkata News
Kolkata: A 36-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at Baduria in North 24-Parganas on Thursday after his name was placed under the “adjudication” category in the final electoral rolls. The first supplementary voter list under the SIR process is likely to be published on Friday. Family members of Ismail Molla from Paschim Natunria claimed that he was under severe mental stress. He was found hanging inside a locked room on Thursday morning.Molla’s relative Arman Akandi said, “Even on Wednesday night, after returning from the mosque, he was expressing deep anxiety and repeatedly said he would end his life if the issue was not resolved. We never imagined he would act on it so soon.”Police initially took the body to Rudrapur Hospital and later shifted it to Basirhat District Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was conducted. The body was subsequently handed over to the family.
