2 die in N Dinajpur, kin allege ‘under adjudication’ stress

Kolkata: Two men died of suspected heart attacks in North Dinajpur on Sunday night, ahead of the EC’s publication of the supplementary electoral list. The first deceased, 49-year-old Abdul Hadi from Goalpokher, had submitted citizenship documents during a govt hearing. Family members said his status remained “under adjudication” despite the submission. Relatives attributed his death to the stress caused by the pending administrative decision on his residency status. In Janakigach village in Chopra block, another resident, Jahangir Alam, died amid concerns over the legal status of his family’s documentation. Five members of his household were reportedly marked as “pending” in the SIR process. Alam, an ice-cream vendor and sole breadwinner for his family, had made repeated visits to the BLO to resolve the issue.
