1 killed, 3 injured as truck rams into parked lorry

Ahmedabad: One person was killed and three others were injured after a truck rammed into a parked smaller lorry on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway near SP Ring Road bridge on Saturday around 11.30am. The man killed was seated in the cabin of the truck that rammed the smaller vehicle. One of the injured and the complainant Kishansinh Makwana, 29, the driver of the parked vehicle that had a tyre issue.Makwana, who hails from Sabarkantha, told I Division traffic police that he was returning from Anand after delivering tiles when he noticed a problem with one of the front tyres of his vehicle. He had just pulled over to the side of the road to check the issue when a larger goods truck, allegedly at high speed, crashed into his vehicle from behind. The impact allegedly pushed his vehicle into the divider and caused it to overturn. The truck behind too hit the divider and was badly damaged. Makwana said that three persons were inside the cabin of the other vehicle. One of them suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot, while the driver and another occupant were injured. Makwana also suffered injuries to his leg and waist. His associate, Jayesh Patel, who was travelling in another vehicle and was nearby, reached the spot and informed family members. Police, highway authorities, and police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured for treatment.A case has been registered against the driver of the goods vehicle for rash and negligent driving. Further investigation is underway.
